From Military Service to Mississippi Soil

Brian Corbett didn’t plan on starting an excavation company when he left military service. But after 10 years working construction and site preparation across Northeast Mississippi, he kept seeing the same problems: contractors who disappeared mid-project, rushed excavation work that created foundation issues years later, and property owners left coordinating three different companies just to get their land ready for building. The discipline learned through military service, showing up when you commit, finishing what you start, taking accountability for results, seemed absent from too many excavation contractors. Brian founded 2C Construction & Dirt Works to bring that same mission focused approach to site preparation work throughout Tupelo, Baldwyn, Corinth, and surrounding communities.

Why Northeast Mississippi

Baldwyn isn’t just where our equipment is parked. It’s home. Brian grew up understanding how Mississippi’s clay heavy soils behave differently than the sandy soils contractors from other regions might be used to. Yazoo clay doesn’t compact the same way. Drainage requirements differ. Seasonal wet and dry cycles create challenges that generic excavation approaches don’t solve.

Over 30 years working Lee County, Alcorn County, and Prentiss County properties, that local knowledge has proven invaluable. We know which areas hold water after storms.
